Merry Christmas... Eve!
At gift-giving holidays, I often think of the immortal words of Mick Jagger: "you can't always get what you want." We got an unexpected gift this week: the flu! First Leah, then Ellie absorbed a nasty virus, leaving us Bloomington-bound for the holidays. We're still planning on getting to Ukraine on Wednesday, come heck or high fever.
I have to give my daughter credit -- the flu has nothing on her. Two minutes after puking on our bedroom floor yesterday afternoon, she was doing Tigger impressions ("Tiggers definitely don't like honey -- blechh!"). A day and half a bottle of Resolve later, she's a little more subdued, her vocab consisting mostly of "want a drink" and "lay down," but Blues Clues videos are getting her through the day.
Well, all good stories start with a little adversity, right? So we're taking this as the first chapter in what's undoubtedly going to be an unforgettable story of our winter in Ukraine. If you've got a second, please pray for our health and a great time of story-collecting and story-sharing for our family. Can't wait to give you updates!
Have a wonderful Christmas, celebrating the event in our Grand Story when our Lover came in the guise of a baby to bring us Home to Him.

to bad for Leah, good ellie! I (rachel) got a loom for christmas! our (will and rachel) new baby boy cousin was born the 22nd. his name is logan. my moms brothers wife had him (last sentance from will).
Rachel, a LOOM for Christmas? Is this the kind of loom I'm imagining? Like one that you weave on? Wow. Are you taking rug orders?
Congrats on the new cousin! The great thing about baby cousins is that you can get them to repeat anything you say. That was good for hours of fun for us older cousins at family get-togethers, I remember. Of course, we only had them repeat NICE things. Cough, cough. Good to hear from you guys! Hope to hear more soon!
